The Forester women's hockey team defeated visiting Trine University 8-0 on Saturday and outscored the Thunder 14-0 in the weekend series.
Senior forward Stokli Ashcraft earned her fist career hat trick, scoring twice in the opening period and once in the second. Two of the three were power play goals she now has four tallies on the season.
Marissa Gebauer, another senior forward, started the scoring with her ninth of the year and what turned out to ber her fourth career game-winner. Junior forward Danielle Selby's fourth goal this season also occurred in the first period and Lake Forest led 4-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Freshman forward Macy Gehrke netted her fourth of the year early in the second period, which ended with the Foresters ahead 6-0.
The final two scored came from sophomore forward Lauren Wensel and senior defenseman Karya Dean. Dean's came on the power play, which was 3-for-5 on the day, and raised her season total to five. Wensel now has six.
Forester senior goaltender Hannah Turnage made 18 saves on Saturday and turned away all 38 shots on goal she faced over the weekend. Turnage is now 11-7-3 with a .943 save percentage, 1.89 goals against average, and four shutouts this season. She is also tied-for-third in program history with seven career shutouts and tied-for-fourth with 27 victories.
Lake Forest improved to 13-7-3 overall and 8-4-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while Trine fell to 8-14-0 overall and 4-10-0 in the league.
