The Forester women's basketball team dropped an 89-54 decision at Knox College Tuesday evening.
Four Lake Forest players scored in double figures in the contest, led by junior guard Maurissa Edwards and senior forward Annie Lally with 11 points apiece. Senior guard Katie Neher and junior guard Melissa Gomez each added 10 points and freshman guard Taylor Major chipped in with nine. Major led the visitors with 11 rebounds while Edwards had a team-high three assists and three steals.
The Foresters shot just 28.6 percent from the field and Knox was at 53.6 percent. The home team also made more than half of its three-point field goal attempts (8-for-15) while Lake Forest was 3-for-21 from beyond the arc. In addition, the Prairie Fire out-rebounded their guests 41-35 and committed eight fewer turnovers (17-25).
Lake Forest scored the game's first four points but trailed 26-15 by the end of the opening period. The margin grew to 13 when the halftime buzzer sounded and was 24 after three quarters.
The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record to 3-7 and their are now 0-4 in Midwest Conference play. Knox improved to 9-4 overall and 4-0 in the league.
Lake Forest will continue conference play at Cornell College on Saturday with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
