Lake Forest College's Monika Wolska was named Midwest Conference Track Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance at the Forever Red Alumni Classic at Carthage College on Saturday.
Wolska, competing in her first collegiate track and field meet, won the mile with a time of 5:56.38. The junior led throughout the race and finished nearly six seconds ahead of the runner-up in the field of 11 competitors.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Wolska is the first Forester in the program's short history to earn the honor during an indoor track and field season.
