The Lake Forest College women's swimming & diving team was defeated 115-108 and the men 120-103 by visiting Lewis University on Saturday. Forester senior Garr Punnett won a pair of events for the home team.
Punnett turned in the Foresters' first victory of the meet with his time of 25.01 seconds in the 50m-freestyle.
Junior Christina Pekar and freshman Mateusz Obstoj won the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter diving events with 254.95 and 231.35 points, respectively.
Freshman Drake Nickell finished the 100m-freestyle in 54.76, nearly two-and-a-half seconds ahead of the runner-up from Lewis.
Punnett made it victories in back-to-back events for the home team when he touched the wall first in the 100m-baskstroke with a time of 1:01.02.
In the second round of diving, junior Sarah Pekar won the 3-meter event with 278 points while Obstoj took the men's 1-meter with a score of 235.55.
The Forester men needed a victory and third-place finish by their 400m-relay teams to win the meet but the Flyers came back to win the event and secure the team victory.
Runner-up finishes were turned in by Lake Forestsenior Loren Dutca in the 800m-freestyle (9:49.46), freshman Emily Bowens (29.28) and Nickell (25.33) in the 50m-freestyle, fr eshman Samuel Freedberg in the 200m-IM (2:15.56), sophomore Brooke Rowley in the 100m-butterfly (1:09.56), sophomore Alex Dunn in the 100m-freestyle (1:02.51), senior David Albion in the 100m-backstroke (1:04.50), and freshman Lauren Dalecky (1:21.30) and sophomore Kristopher Korth (1:08.06) in the 100m-breaststroke.
The Forester men are now 3-1 on the season and the women 1-3. Lewis has defeated four of five dual meet opponents on the men's side and thre e of four on the women's.
Lake Forest's next meet will be next weekend's Phoenix Fall Classic at the University of Chicago. Competition will begin at 10:00 Saturday and Sunday morning.
