Sophomore Nick Zazove won at the top of both the doubles and singles lineups but the Lake Forest College men's tennis team was defeated 5-4 by visiting Calvin College Saturday night at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
Zazove and fellow junior Matt Kacyn doubled up Calvin's top doubles team 8-4 but the Foresters were defeated at #2 and #3.
The six singles matches were split with the first three to finish going to Lake Forest. Zazove posted a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory at #1 and Kacyn followed with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at #3. Freshman Brett O'Brien prevailed 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 at #2 to pull the home team within a point of the win but the Knights rallied with victories at #6 and #4 and the clincher at #5.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 4-4 while Calvin improved to 5-1.
Lake Forest's next five matches will be played in California March 13-15 during the team's Spring Break trip.
