The Lake Forest College men's tennis team defeated Gettysburg College 7-2 Wednesday afternoon in a match that was delayed more than four hours due to wet courts. After pulling out a tiebreak victory at #2 doubles, junior John Adams also prevailed at #2 singles.
Adams and sophomore Jerry Wang prevailed 9-8 (7-4) in the tiebreak to put the Foresters ahead 2-1 going into singles play. Lake Forest's other points came from an 8-3 triumph by sophomores Ryan Kreis and Anthony Warren at #1.
Gettysburg evened the match with a victory at #6 singles but that would be the last point the Bullets would win. Freshman Anthony Mykhaylovskyy edged out his opponents 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at #5 and Kreis finished off Gettysburg's top player 7-5, 6-3. Warren pulled out a 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) win at #4 while Adams and senior Elliot Muth registered 6-3, 6-4 victories at #2 and #3, respectively.
The Foresters are now 4-5 on the season after handing the Bullets their first defeat in four matches this year.
Lake Forest will close out its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, against Scranton College tomorrow morning at 9:00 (EST).
