The Lake Forest College men's tennis team suffered a pair of defeats at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday, falling 8-1 to the hosts and 5-4 to Carthage College. Forester sophomore Anthony Warren won three of his four matches on the day.
Warren and fellow sophomore Ryan Kreis earned the visitors' only point against Whitewater, the 24th-ranked team in the nation. They edged out their opponents 9-8 (7-2) at #2 doubles.
Warren and Kreis also notched the Foresters' first win against Carthage with a convincing 8-1 triumph at #2 doubles. Both players were also victorious in singles play. Warren posted a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at #4 and Kreis came back to prevail 2-6, 6-3, (10-5) at the top spot in the lineup. Lake Forest freshman Anthony Mykhaylovskyy also took a third set super tiebreaker in his 6-2, 4-6, (10-2) victory at #6.
The Foresters fell to 3-4 on the season while the Warhawks raised their record to 7-3 and the Red Men to 9-2.
Lake Forest will leave tomorrow and travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for Spring Break. The Foresters will play four matches in as many days, beginning Monday against Denison University at noon (EST).
