The Forester men's tennis team improved to 1-1 on the season by defeating host St. Norbert College 6-3 on Sunday. The longest match of the day was a 7-6 (7-3), 1-6, 1-0 (10-6) triumph by Lake Forest sophomore Jerry Wang at #5 singles.
The Foresters started the match with victories at the top two spots in the doubles lineup. Junior John Adams and senior Elliot Muth won 8-4 at #1 and the #2 tandem of sophomore Ryan Kreis and freshman Andy Chou prevailed 8-6.
Lake Forest's other four points came at the top two and bottom two positions in singles. Kreis also won 6-4, 6-1 at #1 singles and Adams posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at #2. Wang outlasted his opponent at #5 and freshman Anthony Mykhaylovskyy recorded his first collegiate win, a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at #6.
St. Norbert fell to 0-3 on the season.
The Foresters will travel to Lawrence University next Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
