Four members of the Lake Forest College men's tennis team traveled to Washington University-St. Louis over the weekend to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships. Senior Elliot Muth reached the second round in both singles and doubles play.
Muth and sophomore Ryan Kreis began with a hard-fought 8-6 victory over a doubles team from Kalamazoo College. They were then defeated 8-2 in the round of 32 by the event's #13 seed from the University of Chicago.
Forester sophomores Nathan Wang and Anthony Warren also faced a duo from Kalamazoo in the opening round but were defeated 8-4. They were also defeated 8-1 by a team from Olivet Nazarene University in the consolation bracket.
Kreis was seeded 21st in the singles tournament but was knocked off 7-5, 6-3 by a player from Case Western Reserve University. Muth posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the first round before falling 6-2, 6-1 to the #10 seed in the round of 64. Wang dropped his first round match 6-2, 6-0 to an un-seeded player that eventually reached the round of 16. Kreis and Wang were also defeated in the opening round of the singles consolation bracket.
Warren competed in the St. Louis Collegiate Singles Tournament but was defeated in both of his matches.
Lake Forest will open its regular season on Saturday, February 11, at Carroll University.
