The Forester men's tennis team fell 7-2 to host Grinnell College before blanking Illinois College 9-0 on Saturday. Lake Forest senior Jon Flaksman won his singles and doubles matches in both contests.
Flaksman and freshman Ryan Kreis defeated Grinnell's #2 doubles team 8-4. Flaksman also accounted for the Foresters' other team point against the Pioneers with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at #4 singles.
Lake Forest won at all nine positions in the lineup against Illinois College. Junior Elliot Muth and sophomore John Adams prevailed 8-3 at #1 doubles, Flaksman and Kreis blanked their opponents 8-0 at #2, and junior Tommy White combined with freshman Jerry Wang for an 8-2 victory at #3.
Kreis was one of three Foresters to post 6-0 victories in the first set of singles play and he also defeated the Blueboys' top player 6-3 in the second. Adams won 6-2, 6-0 at #2 and Flaksman closed out a perfect day with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at #3. Senior Chris Paterakos did not lose a game in his 6-0, 6-0 decision at #4 and junior Nick Cantor won 6-2, 6-3 at #5. Wang took his collegiate singles debut 6-1, 6-1.
The Foresters are scheduled to play their first outdoor home match of the season against Illinois Wesleyan University Wednesday afternoon at 4:00.
