The Lake Forest College men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday in its first meet of the 2011 season. Sophomore John Adams accounted for the visitors' only team point with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory at #3 singles.
The match was closer than the score would indicate as Adams was just one of four Foresters who needed a tiebreak to decide either the first or second set. Freshman Ryan Kreis fell 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) at #1 and junior Elliot Muth was defeated 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) at #2. The closest of Lake Forest's losses on the day came at #4 where senior Jon Flaksman was knocked off 7-6 (11-9), 6-4.
The Foresters will be back in action tomorrow against a fellow member of the Midwest Conference. Lawrence University will host Lake Forest at noon at the Fox Cities Racquet Club in Appleton, Wisconsin.
