The Midwest Conference announced its 2022 All-MWC Men's Soccer Teams on Friday and six Foresters were included.
Highlighting the list is junior goalkeeper Szymon Mocarski, who was named MWC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league with a 0.63 goals against average, .844 save percentage, and four shutouts during the eight-game conference schedule. He posted back-to-back-to-back shutouts in the final three games of the regular season to help the Foresters climb into first place and capture the conference title. Mocarski was a Second Team All-MWC selection a year ago.
Joining Mocarski on the First Team is junior defender Rafael Bonilla-Climaco, who anchored a Forester defense that surrendered just five goals during conference play while every other team in the league conceded at least 10. He also assisted on both of the team's goals in a 2-1 triumph at Illinois College on October 8 and was named MWC Defensive Performer of the Week on October 31.
Lake Forest midfielder Karl Weisenfeld was one of just two freshmen in the league to earn First Team All-MWC accolades. He scored a pair of goals during conference play and a team-high six overall.
Forester senior defender Teddy Kolesnikov, freshman defender Ido Zimbelman, and sophomore midfielder Eric Rodriguez earned Second Team All-MWC honors. Kolesnikov and Zimbelman joined Bonilla-Climaco on the back line and helped limit league opponents to just 4.0 shots on goal per game. Rodriguez had a goal and an assist during MWC play and added three more assists in non-conference contests.
Lake Forest's three First Team All-MWC selections match the program's highest total in a decade and the six honorees on the first and second teams combined is the most at the College since 1995. Weisenfeld and Zimbelman are the first Forester freshman to be named all-conference since 2014 and the program's first freshman duo to be listed among the league's best since 1985.
The Foresters are currently 8-8-3 overall this season and finished 5-1-2 in MWC play to capture the 18th league title in team history. They also posted a pair of dramatic victories to win last weekend's conference Tournament.
Lake Forest will take on St. Olaf College Saturday night at 8:00 in the opening round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Tournament. The game will be played at regional host North Central College with the winner playing again Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
