The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its Scholar All-America Teams on Wednesday and Lake Forest College's Mahir Mameledzija made the list for the second straight season.
Mameledzija, a senior forward with a 3.86 cumulative grade point average, earned third team honors on the NSCAA Men's College Division Scholar All-America listing. The Spanish and chemistry double-major was a second team selection last year. He was also recently chosen as the Capital One Academic All-American® of the Year by the College Sports Information Directors of America and repeated as the Midwest Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. Mameledzija led the league and ranked among the top 20 in the country with 19 goals and 42 points this fall. He finished his career with a team and conference record 72 goals and 165 points.
The Foresters, with Mameledzija as one of their captains, posted a 14-7-0 overall record in 2013 and defended its MWC championship with a 9-1-0 mark in league play. Lake Forest won the MWC Tournament for the first time in 17 years and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 1981.
