Lake Forest College's Conor Murphy was named Midwest Lacrosse Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after a program record-setting performance on Saturday.
The Foresters hosted and defeated the University of Northwestern-St. Paul 11-3 to finish the regular season 5-0 in league play capture sole possession of the first conference title in program history. Murphy caused nine turnovers and picked up a dozen ground balls to set single-game school records in both categories. He also helped the home team convert 20 of 22 clearing opportunities while the Eagles were just 13-for-26.
Murphy's 26 caused turnovers in five MLC games this season led the league while his 36 ground balls against conference foes ranked fourth. He has 58 ground balls and a program record 55 caused turnovers in 15 games overall.
MLC Players of the Week are selected by the league's head coaches. Murphy also earned the award on April 3 and twice last season.
