The Lake Forest College men's golf team placed fourth out of 14 teams at the WLC Fall Invitational over the weekend.
Junior Ryan Higgins and sophomore Luke Duffer were the Foresters' top players and tied for 20th overall with matching 36-hole scores of 154. Higgins and sophomore Chris Petri turned in the team's best individual rounds of the weekend on Saturday, completing the 6,849-yard, par-72 Washington County Golf Course in 75 strokes. Duffer recorded five birdies to finish with a team's best score of 76 on Sunday.
Lake Forest senior James Johnson was also in the 70s both days and his final score of 155 tied him for 24th place in the 91-player field. Johnson carded 15 pars during his opening round 77 and four birdies while firing a 78 on Sunday.
Fellow senior Connor Lindley's 77 in round two gave him a final score of 157, tying him with Petri for 29th place. Lindley's opening round included an eagle on the 570-yard, par-5 13th hole and he was a tournament-best 4-under on the par-5s for the weekend.
Luther College was the team champion with a five-player score of 736 at the event. The University of Wisconsin-Parkside was next at 741, followed by Aurora University at 757 and the Foresters at 777.
The next event on Lake Forest's schedule is the Midwest Region Fall Classic next Sunday and Monday. The tournament will be played at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wisconsin.
