The Forester men's basketball team finished up the fall semester with a 78-61 non-conference loss at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tuesday night.
Four Lake Forest players reached double figures in scoring, led by senior forward Frank Siegien with 12. Sophomore guard Alex Knight finished with 11 while sophomore guard Elijah Bull and freshman forward Noah Deitch added 10 apiece. Knight led the visitors with three assists and three steals and senior wing Johnny Roeser pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The Forester shot 43 percent from the field but Whitewater was at 53 percent. The Warhawks also had a 34-27 edge on the boards.
The home team scored the game's first four points and led until a basket by sophomore forward Michael Michaud tied the score at 18 with nearly nine minutes to play in the first half. A few possessions later Whitewater regained the lead and never relinquished it. The margin grew to seven (36-29) at halftime and reached double digits a minute into the second half. The Foresters closed back to within six on a three-point play by Roeser with 11:45 to play but got no closer. The Warhawks scored the next nine points and led by no fewer than 12 the rest of the way.
Lake Forest is now 2-7 and Whitewater 6-3 on the season.
The Foresters will not play again until a home game against Carroll University on Friday, December 30. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
