Lake Forest College cross country runner Yaneli Guajardo was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after leading her team to a victory at last Friday's Forester Invitational.
Guajardo, who was also named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday, finished first in the 51-runner field with a time of 23:54.7. The individual win was the first as a Forester cross country runner for the junior and she crossed the finish line 32 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the race. Guajardo has now placed among the top 15 runners a dozen times in two-and-a-half seasons at the College.
Lake Forest's score of 29 points edged out Elmhurst College by just four for the team title.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
