Junior Olivia Drevs led the visitors with nine kills as Lake Forest prevailed 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 at Alverno College Tuesday night.
Drevs was followed by fellow junior Olivia Smith and freshman Haley Bryant with eight kills apiece. The Foresters' .284 hitting percentage on the night was their second-highest mark of the year.
Senior Olivia Rhodes led Lake Forest with 18 assists and tied freshman Izzi Visjnevac for team-high honors with nine digs.
The Foresters won 17 of the first 25 points on the night. The Inferno fought off three set points before dropping the first 25-17.
Lake Forest gradually pulled away in set two and led 23-17 before the home team took four of the next five points. A kill by Rhodes, however, finished it off.
The visitors had a 10-point lead in the third set before four straight points for Alverno made the score 21-15. The teams traded points until a kill by Bryant closed out the contest.
The victory improved the Foresters' record on the season to 7-12 while Alverno fell to 1-21.
Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play at home this weekend, taking on Monmouth College Friday night at 7:00 and Knox College Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
