The doubles portion of the Midwest Conference Individual Tournaments in Madison, Wisconsin, was played out on Saturday and Forester junior Julie Lord and senior Leeza Bodnar successfully defended their title at the top spot in the lineup.
Lorad and Bodnar prevailed 8-2 in the quarterfinals and 8-1 in the semifinals before defeating the top tandem from Grinnell College 8-5 in the championship. Lake Forest's all-time leaders in career victories by a doubles team also captured the league title at #1 in 2018 and are now 17-2 as partners this season and 55-20 over the last three years.
Sophomore Tebatso Duba and junior Tyranny Miller outscored their opponents 8-1 in the quarterfinals and 8-3 in the semifinals before falling 8-5 to Grinnell in the final. The results at #3 for junior Grace Gould and sophomore Katie Wegrecki was similar with a pair of 8-1 victories sending them to the final, where they were edged out 8-6 by Grinnell.
The six positional singles tournaments will be contested at the Nielsen Tennis Center on Sunday.
