Junior Julie Lord dropped just one game in four matches on the day as Lake Forest began Midwest Conference play with 9-0 victories at Monmouth College and Illinois College on Saturday.
Lord and senior Leeza Bodnar blanked the top doubles tandems from both opponents 8-0 and juniors Emma Wang and Grace Gould won by the same score in both matches at #3. Sophomore Tebatso Duba and junior Tyranny Miller were nearly as dominant at #2, defeating their counterparts from Monmouth 8-1 and from Illinois College 8-0.
Monmouth did not win a game at the top or bottom of the singles lineup either, as Lord blanked the Fighting Scots' best 6-0, 6-0 and Gould did the same at #6. Duba, Wang, and Miller and dropped just one game apiece at #2, #4, and #5, respectively, while Bodnar cruised to a 6-4, 6-0 victory at #3.
Freshman Natalia Leite made her collegiate debut at Illinois College and routed the Lady Blues' #6 player 6-0, 6-1. Lord and Bodnar matched Leite's score at #1 and #3, respectively, and Miller blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #5. Duba took both sets 6-1 at #2 and Wang won the closest match of the day 6-2, 6-4 at #4.
Lake Forest is now 4-0 overall on the season while Monmouth fell to 0-3 and Illinois College to 1-2.
The Foresters will finish off their weekend at the southernmost schools in the league with a match at Knox College Sunday morning at 9:00.
