Freshman forward Michelle Greeneway scored a hat trick in the third period as the Lake Forest women's hockey team won its 12th straight game with a 7-1 victory over Concordia on Tuesday night at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
With the victory, Lake Forest (14-2-4, 11-1-4 NCHA) clinches home ice for the quarterfinals of the O'Brien Cup Tournament.
Greeneway, who also added an assist on the Foresters' fifth goal, scored her first of the night at 2:58 of the third period. She added another goal at 16:21 and completed the hat trick at 18:58. She has now scored eight times in the last three games over a five-day period and took over the league lead in goals.
Concordia (4-16-3, 4-12-2 NCHA) got on the scoreboard just 1:06 into the game before Lake Forest tied the contest at 3:16 on a goal by Laura Reckdenwald.
The Foresters took the lead at 6:18 of the first period on a goal from Maeve Connelly. Marissa Weber gave Lake Forest a 3-1 cushion at 10:41 of the second period on a power play goal and was assisted by Alex Stensland and Torey Crown.
Sarah Gilbride also scored for Lake Forest at 11:34 of the third period after Greeneway's first goal of the night.
Stacey Dierking made 30 saves in net for Lake Forest, who hosts St. Norbert on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. respectively.
Friday night's game is Parents Night while Saturday's game is the senior game for senior captains Jenn Caldwell and Angie Chronis.
