Foresters Post Best Round of the Season at UW-Whitewater Fall Invite

The Lake Forest College women's golf team placed 12th at the UW-Whitewater Fall Invite over the weekend and posted its lowest score of the year so far on Friday.

All five Foresters were in the 90s during an opening round 376, which was eight shots better than their previous season best at the IC Preview two weeks ago. Sophomore Makayla Sanchez's 91 was the team's best of the weekend and freshman Lucy Rayburn was next with a 93. Sophomore Christina Hartley had a season-best 95 while senior Grace Black and freshman Emma Ackland finished in 97 and 98 shots, respectively.

Rayburn and Sanchez each carded a birdie during Saturday's second round and turned in scores of 92 and 97, respectively, on the day. Rayburn tied for 47th at the 80-player event while Sanchez was 53rd. Black finished the weekend at 197, Ackland at 200, and Hartley at 204.

Carthage College was the champion at the 13-team event.

The Foresters will travel to Springfield, Illinois, for next weekend's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship, which will be played at The Rail on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
