Foresters Win Elmhurst Fall Invitational with Program Record Round

Foresters Win Elmhurst Fall Invitational with Program Record Round

Lake Forest had the top four players in the individual standings and posted the lowest score in team history while winning the Elmhurst College Fall Invitational on Tuesday.

Junior Amanda Lee led the way with a round of 76, the third-lowest score in program history and just one shot off her career-best. She was one of two individuals in the 23-player field with a pair of birdies on the day and she also recorded a dozen pars on the 5,829-yard, par-72 course at Oak Brook Golf Club in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Freshman Sydney Reeder was next with a season-best 80 while junior Faith Jung and freshman Elizabeth Santos also turned in their best performances of the young season with matching 82s. Reeder was no worse than bogey on any hole and Jung and Santos each had a birdie in her round. Senior Cece Cruz also carded a birdie while posting a score of 92 and the Foresters accounted for five of the event's nine birdies.

Lake Forest's four-player score of 320 was seven shots better than the previous school record set in April of 2018 and 32 strokes ahead of runner-up Elmhurst. Benedictine University was third at 418.

The Foresters' busy week will continue with the UW-Whitewater Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday and the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational on Sunday.
