Junior guard Kelsey Burton led Lake Forest with 13 points and 7 rebounds Tuesday night in a 70-55 loss at Ripon College.

Burton was joined in double figures by freshman guard Katie Neher, who finished with 11.

Lake Forest shot just 32 percent from the field while the home team was at 42 percent. The Red Hawks outscored the Foresters 27-25 on three-pointers and 21-12 from the foul line. They also had a 41-34 advantage in rebounds.

Ripon scored the game's first five points and never relinquished the lead, which reached 12 (24-12) by the end of the opening period. The Foresters cut that deficit in half during the second but trailed 38-29 at the half.

The difference was back down to eight late in the third quarter but the Red Hawks closed out the period with 11 straight points and led 63-44 with 10 minutes to play. The margin reached 23 early in the fourth before the Foresters scored nine of the game's last 10 points.

Lake Forest fell to 11-12 overall and 8-8 in Midwest Conference play this season while Ripon improved to 18-6 overall and 14-3 in the league.

The Foresters will close out the season with a pair of home games, beginning with Thursday night's match-up with Cornell College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
