Kelsey Burton and Hannah Hiland Earn All-MWC Honors

The Midwest Conference announced to 2018-19 All-MWC Women's Basketball Teams on Tuesday and Lake Forest College had a pair of honorees.
Sophomore guard Kelsey Burton was one of the league's six First Team All-MWC selections. The versatile Burton ranks ninth in the conference with 14.3 points, sixth with 7.3 rebounds, fifth with 3.5 assists, tied-for-fifth with 1.8 steals, and third with 35.2 minutes played per game while leading the Foresters in all five categories. She is also the most accurate three-point shooter in the league at 39.8 percent and her 2.12 assist-to-turnover ratio is not only the highest mark in the conference, but also ranks 29th nationally. Burton was also a first team honoree and the MWC Newcomer of the Year last season.
Forester senior forward Hannah Hiland was named Second Team All-MWC on Tuesday. Hiland was also among the league leaders in several categories, ranking tied-for-11th with 13.3 points, 12th with 6.5 rebounds, and eighth with 1.0 blocks per contest. She owns the second-highest free-throw percentage (85.4%) in the conference and ranks sixth in field goal percentage at 44.9 percent. She will graduate with the third-best career free throw percentage in team history at 82.3 percent and ranked eighth in blocked shots with 92.
Lake Forest has now had at least one player earn all-conference honors each of the last 34 years with multiple honorees in 28 of those seasons.
The Foresters finished the 2018-19 season with an overall record of 13-13 and a league mark of 12-6. They qualified for the four-team MWC Tournament for the second year in a row but fell to Monmouth College in the semifinal round.
