Junior Yaneli Guajardo earned a victory in the 800m run to highlight Lake Forest's performance at North Central College's Cardinal Opener on Friday.

Guajardo completed her four laps around the track in 2:23.24, edging out the runner-up by just three tenths of a second.

Fellow junior Ellen Szostak also earned points for the Forester women with a seventh-place finish and time of 68.18 seconds in the 400m run.

Additional scoring came from Lake Forest's distance medley relay, which was third in 13:25.24, and the 4x400m relay that finished in 4:56.31.

On the men's side, senior Philip Wilson was sixth in the 3000m run with a time of 9:21.45 and sophomore Christian Reyes placed 10th in 9:32.52. The distance medley relay team brought in the rest of the points with a third-place finish.

North Central was the team champion for each gender while the Forester women were fifth and the men seventh out of eight teams.

Lake Forest will compete again next Friday at Carthage College's Tadd Metzger Invitational.
