The Forester men's tennis team narrowly defeated Elmhurst University 5-4 Friday night at Centre Court in Hanover Park, Illinois.
Lake Forest began the match by taking two of three in doubles. Junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and freshman Daniel Tulchinskiy rolled to an 8-2 victory atop the lineup and junior Jacob Tilton and sophomore Eduardo Manuitt prevailed by the same score at #3.
After the Bluejays evened the score with a win at #4 singles, the Foresters regained the lead on Vyshyvanyuk's 6-4, 6-3 triumph at #1. 6-4, 6-2 victories by freshman Kyle Lassen #6 and Manuitt at #5 secured clinched the match for the visitors.
Lake Forest improved to 3-2 while Elmhurst fell to 1-2 on the young season.
The Foresters' next five matches will be played in Hilton Head, South Carolina, during Spring break. Ohio Northern University will be their first opponent of the trip on Monday, March 7, at 8:30 a.m. (ET).
