Senior Chase Garber and freshman Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk won both of their doubles matches and each added a victory in singles on Friday but the Foresters fell 7-2 to Berry College and 5-4 to the University of Lynchburg.
Vyshyvanyuk was at least partially responsible for both of the team's points against Berry. He and Garber defeated the Vikings' top doubles team 8-3 and he came out on top of a 6-4, 7-5 decision at #1 singles.
Garber and Vyshyvanyuk prevailed 8-5 atop the doubles lineup against Lynchburg but the Foresters faced a 2-1 deficit going into singles play.
The Hornets earned the point at #2 singles before Garber's 6-3, 6-1 triumph at #4 made the score 3-2. After narrow victories for Lynchburg at #1 and #3 clinched the match, Lake Forest junior Brant Christensen finished off a 6-1, 6-4 win at #6 and classmate Oliver Gallego prevailed 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) at #5.
The Foresters are now 5-7 on the year while Berry improved to 4-4 and Lynchburg to 5-3.
The next match on Lake Forest's schedule is a March 21 contest against North Central College.
