After racking up 11 points in three victories, Forester Aaron O'Neill was named Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
O'Neill's productive week started with a three-assist performance in Lake Forest's 5-4 comeback victory Tuesday night at Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Foresters fell behind 3-0 in the second period before scoring five unanswered goals and hanging on for the win.
Lake Forest began its weekend series with visiting College of St. Scholastica with a 6-1 triumph Friday night. After a scoreless opening period, O'Neill netted the game's first two goals during a five-minute power play early in the second.
The program's Peter Taylor Award, a team-voted honor based on talent, leadership, and love for the game, was presented to O'Neill before Saturday's series finale. The junior forward celebrated with the Foresters' first four-goal game in nearly two seasons and their first six-point performance in more than a decade as the team prevailed 8-0.
The victories extended the Foresters' winning streak to 11 games, the second-longest run in program history, the they were ranked sixth in the nation in Monday's USCHO.com Top 15 Poll. The team is now 16-2-1 overall and atop the NCHA standings at 13-1-0 in league play. O'Neill leads the squad with 11 goals and 26 points on the season and has 61 points on 32 goals and 29 assists in his three-year career.
