Senior guard Eric Porter surpassed 1,000 career points and was one of five Foresters to score in double figures in the Lake Forest College men's basketball team's 76-64 victory at Cornell College on Saturday.

Porter connected on four of seven attempts from beyond the arc and finished with a dozen points in the contest. His second three-pointer of the game gave him 1,001 points in his collegiate career and the third gave him that amount during his three seasons at Lake Forest College. Porter scored three points during his freshman year at Loyola University Chicago and now has 1,004 as a Forester. He is the 22nd player in program history to reach the milestone.

Junior forward Danny Sotos led the Foresters with 17 points while junior guard Aram Arslanian matched Porter with 12. Freshman guard Sean Espinosa and sophomore guard Sam Husting each had 11. Junior guard Jordan Moran finished with nine points and led the visitors with eight rebounds. Sotos and Espinosa had a team-high four assists apiece and Arslanian added three steals.

Lake Forest shot 49.2 percent from the field while limiting Cornell to 45.8 percent. The visitors made nine three-pointers to the Rams' three but were outscored 17-5 from the foul line. Cornell also had a 34-30 edge in rebounds but committed 15 turnovers while the Foresters tied their season-low with five.

Both teams were ahead by as many as five points in the first half and the lead changed hands six times in the period, the last on a layup by Sotos with two-and-a-half minutes remaining. A jumper by Arslanian with a minute left gave the Foresters a 31-28 lead they took into the locker room at halftime.

Cornell closed to within a point four times early in the second half. A 15-6 Forester run extended the lead to double figures and the Rams got no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Lake Forest is now 16-7 overall this season and tied for second place in the Midwest Conference standings at 12-4 in the league. Cornell fell to 11-12 overall and 6-10 in the conference.

The Foresters will host St. Norbert College Tuesday evening at 5:30.
