Good Showing for Foresters at MWC Championships

The Lake Forest College cross country teams traveled to Monmouth, Illinois, for the 2022 Midwest Conference Championship Meet on Saturday. The Foresters women placed sixth at the event while three members of the men's team competed as individuals.

The Forester women were led by sophomore Delfina Jorgensen, who placed 39th out of 86 runners overall with a 6-kilometer time of 26:59.03. Freshman Atlas Hampton-Gregory was next in 29:09.77, followed by classmate Amy Czauderna in 29:58.24. Jorgensen and Hampton Gregory were each within eight seconds of their respective season-best times while Czauderna improved her personal record by 16 seconds.

The team's sixth-place finish put them ahead of Illinois College, Monmouth College, and Knox College in the standings. Ripon College won the women's race and Cornell College placed first on the men's side.

Sophomore Bart Brophy paced the Lake Forest men with an 8-kilometer time of 30:09.84, 13 seconds faster than his previous personal best. Meanwhile, classmate Dean Kousiounelos completed the route through Gibson Woods Golf Course in 30:31.56, more than a minute-and-a-half faster than his best performance before Saturday.

Select Foresters will complete the season at the NCAA Division III Regional Meet in two weeks.
