Foresters Host Annual Invitational at Foss Park

The Lake Forest College cross country team hosted the annual Forester Invitational at nearby Foss Park Golf Course on Friday. The hosts placed second in the men's team standings while the women were third.

The meet began with the women's 6-kilometer race and junior Monika Wolska was the runner-up in the field of 22 runners. She completed the first 6K of her career in 27:24.3. Freshman Atlas Hampton-Gregory was next on the team and 11th overall in 31:24.7 and classmate Jacquelyn Han was right behind them in 12 with a time of 31:37.8.

Junior Alec Macartney led the Forester men with an eighth-place finish and 8-kilometer time of 30:53.9. Sophomore Bart Brophy finished 10th in 31:31.1 and senior Lionel Whitehead, whose 32:23.6 is the third-fastest time of his career, was the next runner to cross the finish line.

Dominican University won the women's race with 29 points, Beloit was second with 37, and Lake Forest third with 58. The North Central College men posted a perfect team score with 15 points while the Foresters' 64 were 11 better than Dominican's total and 17 ahead of Beloit.

Lake Forester will compete in Wheaton College's Gil Dodds Invitational next Saturday. The meet will be help at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois.
