Foresters Compete at MWC Championship Meet

The Lake Forest College women placed sixth and the men seventh at the Midwest Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The meet was hosted by Ripon College at Tuscumbia Golf Course in Green Lake, Wisconsin.

Forester junior Madeline Morland matched the best finish in program history with her runner-up performance in the women's 6-kilometer race. She completed the course in 23:18.79, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the third place finisher but 48 seconds behind the winner. The top 20 runners in each race earn All-MWC honors and Lake Forest graduate student Audrey Paglia was 16th in 24:52.37. She improved by 39 places from her finish at the last conference meet in 2019. Freshman Delfina Jorgensen was next on the team and 32nd out of 88 competitors overall with a time of 26:09.71.

The Forester men were led by freshman Michael Kurtz, who placed 28th in the 93-runner field with an 8-kilometer time of 28:37.83. Senior Christian Reyes finished 38th in 29:12.05 and senior Julián Cano 62nd with a time of 30:33.93.

Lawrence University finished first in both the women's and men's team standings. Grinnell College was second in the women's race and Cornell College in the men's.

Select Foresters will compete in the NCAA Division III Regional Meet on Saturday, November 13.
