Morland and Paglia Finish 1-2, Men the Runners-Up at Forester Invitational

The Lake Forest College cross country teams hosted the annual Forester Invitational on Friday, placing second in the men's team standings and third on the women's side.

The women's 6-kilometer race was first and the Foresters had the top two individual finishers. Junior Madeline Morland and graduate student Audrey Paglia ran together for most of the race before Morland pulled away during the final kilometer. She finished in 25:18 and Paglia crossed the finish line 18 seconds later.

Beloit College finished first in the women's team standings with 35 points. Dominican University was second with 44, seven fewer than Lake Forest.

North Central College had the top five finishers in the men's 8-kilometer race to finish with a perfect 15 points. The Foresters were second with 48 and Beloit third with 78.

Lake Forest senior Christian Reyes placed sixth overall in 27:52 and freshman Mike Kurtz was ninth with a time of 29:04 in his first collegiate 8K. Senior Julián Cano was the team's third runner and placed 12th overall in 30:00.

The Foresters will compete for the third weekend in a row when they toe the line at next Saturday's Gil Dodds Invitational. The meet, which is hosted by Wheaton College at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois, will begin at 10:45 a.m.
