Junior Yareli Guajardo, freshman Madeline Morland, and senior Philip Wilson posted times that rank among the fastest in program history on Friday at Augustana College's Brissman/Lundeen Invitational.
Guajardo was the Foresters' top runner on the women's side, completing the 6-kilometer course at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois, in just 22:51.4. It was the sixth-best time in school history and good for ninth place out of 240 runners in the race. Morland was just 10 places behind Guajardo and her 23:08.9 ranks 13th in team annals. Sophomore Ellen Szostak was 57th in 24:16.7 and senior Ariane Balaram 89th with a time of 24:59.5. Junior Audrey Paglia rounded out the Foresters' top five in 95th place with a time of 25:03.6.
The University of Chicago ran away with the women's team title, accumulating just 36 points to runner-up Elmhurst College's 125. Lake Forest's 220 points ranked eighth out of the 18 teams at the meet.
Wilson was 33rd out of 320 finishers in the men's 8-kilometer race and his time of 26:21.4 ranks 24th in team history. Sophomore Christian Reyes was next on the squad in 56th place with a time of 26:50.5 and senior Dillon Rice was 121st in 27:57.3. The Foresters' fourth and fifth runners were senior Aiden Pratt 29:38.9 and freshman Lionel Whitehead in 32:32.2.
Chicago also won the men's competition with a perfect score of 15 points. Lake Forest was 14th in the 23-team field.
The next meet for the Foresters will be the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on Saturday, October 19.
