Women Win, Men Place Second at Forester Invitational

Junior Yaneli Guajardo and sophomore Christian Reyes were the individual champions and the Lake Forest women placed first and the men second at the Forester Invitational on Friday.

Guajardo completed the 6-kilometer course at Foss Park Golf Course in 23:54.7 and Lake Forest freshman Madeline Morland was the runner-up with a time of 24:26.3. Three of the next nine runners to cross the finish line were also Foresters, beginning with sophomore Ellen Szostak in seventh place with a time of 25:50.0 and senior Ariane Balaram just seven-tenths of a second behind her in eighth. Junior Audrey Paglia rounded out the team's top five and her time of 26:13.9 was good for 11th place overall.

The Lake Forest women finished with 29 points, just four fewer than second-place Elmhurst College. Trinity International University was third and Harper College fourth.

Reyes posted a time of 27:44.9 on the 8-kilometer course, good for a 5-second victory. Senior Philip Wilson was third in the standings in 27:51.8 and classmate Dillon Rice 11th with a time of 29:56.5. Aiden Pratt, another senior, was 20th in 31:31.8 and freshman Lionel Whitehead finished in 34:32.3 and in 34th place.

The Elmhurst men won the meet with 35 points and Lake Forest finished with 56, nine fewer than third-place Harper College. Lakeland University was fourth and Trinity International fifth.

After a weekend off from competition, the Foresters will travel to Rock Island, Illinois, for Augustana College's Brissman-Lundeen Invitational on Friday, October 4.
