Lake Forest Competes in UW-Parkside's Vic Godfrey Open

Freshman Madeline Morland and sophomore Christian Reyes were the Foresters' top runners in the Vic Godfrey Open at University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday. The meet was held a the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course.

Morland completed the 5-kilometer course in 19:48.5, which was good for 29th place in the 119-runner field and also ranks 18th in program history. Junior Yaneli Guajardo was the next Forester to cross the finish line just three places and less than three seconds later with the 21st-fastest mark in team annals (19:53.1). Freshman Anna Mollnhuber was 50th with a time of 20:36.3 and sophomore Ellen Szostak 52in in 20:43.4. Junior Audrey Paglia rounded out Lake Forest's top five in 57th place with a time of 20:48.0.

Reyes finished with a time of 28:35.4 in the men's 8-kilometer race and placed 44th out of 90 finishers. Seniors Dillon Rice and Aiden Pratt were 65th (30:26.6) and 73rd (31:46.7), respectively. Lionel Whitehead, the men's team's only freshman, was 82nd in 35:06.8 and sophomore Brandon Johnson finished 85th in 36:25.6.

The Forester women finished in sixth place out of nine complete teams while the men were seventh out of eight. The Butler University women and University of Chicago men were the team champions.

The next meet on Lake Forest's schedule is the annual Forester Invitational on Friday, September 20. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m.
