Yaneli Guajardo and Forester Teams Earn Academic Honors

The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its All-Academic Teams and Individuals for cross country on Thursday and Lake Forest College was well-represented.

For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, there were 393 teams honored by the USTFCCCA.

In order to qualify for the honor as individuals, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.

The Forester women own a GPA of 3.53 and are one of 215 women's teams on the list. In addition, sophomore Yaneli Guajardo earned the award as an individual. The politics major finished 57th out of 255 runners with a 6-kilometer time of 23:29.0 at the NCAA Division III Regional Meet on November 10.

Lake Forest was also one of 178 institutions to have a men's team make the list. The current GPA for the Forester men is 3.37.

Both teams are coach by Ciara Kissane.
