Forester Women Place 7th, Men 10th at UW-Oshkosh

Junior Jorge Villanueva recorded the men's team's fastest time of the season on Saturday at the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational. The Forester women placed seventh out of 24 teams and the men were 10th out of 26 in a meet that included more than 700 runners.

Villanueva was 21st out of 351 finishers in the men's 8-kilometer race. He completed the course at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wisconsin, in 26 minutes and 23.9 seconds, which is the ninth-fastest time in program history. Senior Jonathan Stern, the team's top runner in each of the first three meets this year, finished 27th and his time of 26:33.0 ranks 15th in team annals. Sophomore Philip Wilson was the next Forester to finish and his 27:13.2 was good for 66th at the meet. Sophomore Alex Lytle finished 100th in 27:43.1 and junior Christian Aldana rounded out the team's top five in 102nd place overall with a time of 27:43.2.

Augustana College finished first in the men's team standings with 97 points, 11 fewer than runner-up Oshkosh. With 257 points, Lake Forest was the best of four Midwest Conference teams at the meet, one place ahead of Lawrence University. 

Freshman Yaneli Guajardo was the Forester women's team's top runner for the fourth time in as many races this season. She placed 13th out of 353 runners overall and her career-best 6-kilometer time of 23:35.23 ranks 19th in team history. Senior Cassie Lira made her season debut and finished second on the team and 39th overall in 24:25.73. Sophomore Ashley Canner was 62nd in 24:45.00, four places ahead of classmate Ariane Balaram, who competed the course in 24:47.56. Lauren Giurini, another sophomore, was fifth on the squad and 86th overall in 25:05.00.

MWC member St. Norbert College won the women's race with 93 points and North Central College was second with 116. The Foresters had 216 points.

It was Lake Forest's final meet before the 2017 Midwest Conference Championships on October 28.
