Academic All-District® Volleyball Teams Feature Three Foresters

College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2022 Academic All-District® Teams for volleyball on Tuesday and the list included three Lake Forest players.

To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must be starters or important reserves and have played in at least half of the team's contests at their position. They must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale at their current institution and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Lake Forest's honorees were junior Mary Gegen and seniors Madison Stevens and Izzi Visnjevac.

Gegen is a junior and an environmental studies major who led the Foresters with 298 kills this fall. The outside hitter also tied for the team lead with 43 blocks and was second on the squad in digs with 265. She recorded 10 double-doubles and was a First Team All-Midwest Conference honoree.

Stevens also earned First Team All-MWC status and led Lake Forest in hitting percentage at .216. The senior middle blocker and double major in psychology and sociology and anthropology also matched Gegen's 43 blocks, and was second on the team with 237 kills.

Visnjevac, a finance and data science (finance and economics emphasis) double major, led the Foresters with 434 digs and was third on the squad in aces with 36. The senior libero finished her career ranked sixth in program history with 1,385 career digs and 10th with 121 aces.

Lake Forest posted a 16-13 overall record in 2021 and finished second in the MWC standings at 7-1 in the league. The Foresters were also the runners-up at the MWC Tournament.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
