Forester Athletes of the Week: Oct. 18

Volleyball's Madison Stevens and Lionel Whitehead of men's cross country were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Stevens helped Lake Forest earn a pair of four-set victories last week. After racking up a match-high 18 kills at Alverno Tuesday night, the middle blocker led the Foresters again with a dozen kills against Ripon on Friday. Stevens averaged 3.75 kills per set and posted a .333 hitting percentage for the week.

Whitehead has seen consistent improvement in his personal best time in the 8000-meter race over the past three weeks. This week, he saw another 36-second time drop in his run, completing the course in 29:45.2. This is the team's fastest performance thus far this season.

The Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. Stevens achieved this award once before this season on October 4; this is the first time in his career that Whitehead has won.
