Forester Athletes of the Week: Oct. 4

Football's graduate student Damon Bonds and volleyball's senior Madison Stevens were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Bonds carried the ball 20 times for 174 yards and three touchdowns in the team's game against Cornell College on Saturday. Bonds also added 18 yards receiving on the day the Forester run game broke a school record for yards per carry that was set in 2016.

Stevens led all players with a career-high 19 kills as Lake Forest prevailed in five sets at Monmouth on Saturday. Five of her kills came in the fourth set, during which the Foresters trailed 18-8 before rallying to take it 26-24 and extend the match. Stevens also had eight kills in a three-set triumph over Rockford on Tuesday and posted a .296 hitting percentage in the two contests combined.

This is the first time either athlete has earned Forester Athlete of the Week honors, which is selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays.
