Lake Forest Splits Last Two Matches of 2021

The Forester volleyball team fell in four sets at Grinnell College before defeating Knox College in four on Saturday. They were Lake Forest's final two matches of the season.

Freshman Annika DeHorn led the Foresters in digs in both contests, setting a season-high with 11 against Grinnell and shattering that mark with 19 against Knox. Senior Kaity Mueller also reached double figures in digs in the second match, finishing with 11 in her final career appearance.

Junior Madison Stevens and sophomore Mary Gegen shared team-high honors in kills in the first match with six apiece and Stevens paced the Foresters with 11 against the Prairie Fire. She posted a .474 hitting percentage and added an ace and three blocks in the finale.

Other notable statistics for Lake Forest against Knox included six blocks by senior Hannah Kobienia and five for Gegen. Gegen also served up four of Lake Forest's 14 aces while junior Izzi Visnjevac and freshman Rebekkah De Kok added three apiece. Visnjevac and Mueller handled the Foresters' setting duties in the contest and finished with 20 and 10 assists, respectively.

Lake Forest finished the season 9-18 overall and 4-4 in Midwest Conference play. Mueller and Kobienia are the team's only seniors.
