The Lake Forest College volleyball team was defeated in three sets by Cornell College at home on Saturday.

The Foresters won the first four points of the afternoon but the Rams took 25 of the next 32 to win the opening set 25-11.

Cornell led throughout set two but Lake Forest stayed within reach until a 10-4 run by the visitors made the score 24-15. The Foresters fought off four consecutive set points before the Rams were able to close it out.

The third set was tied eight times, the last at 16, before Cornell rattled off seven straight points and eventually finished off the match.

After pounding out 11 kills without an error in Friday night's victory over Beloit, Lake Forest junior Madison Stevens had seven kills and no errors in just 13 attempts on Saturday. Her kill total tied for second on the team behind senior Hannah Kobienia's eight.

Junior Izzi Visnjevac led the Foresters in digs with 11 and freshman setter Juli Barrientos finished with 24 assists.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record to 7-14 and Midwest Conference mark to 3-2. Cornell improved to 12-6 overall and remained perfect in league play at 5-0.

The next match on the Foresters' schedule is a non-conference contest at Concordia University Chicago Tuesday night at 7:00.
