The Forester volleyball team rolled to a 25-19, 25-14, 25-15 victory over Lawrence University at home Tuesday night.

The only deficit Lake Forest faced in the opening set was 2-1 and the home team responded with a 16-6 run to pull away. The Foresters were ahead 22-14 when five consecutive points by the Vikings narrowed the margin to three. Lake Forest took the next three points with an ace by freshman Rebekkah De Kok finishing off the set.

Lawrence rattled off four straight points to start set two and led 5-1 before a 7-0 run by the Foresters. The home team gradually pulled away and the lead reached double figures before a kill by junior Madison Stevens closed out the set.

Lake Forest won eight of the first nine points in the third and final set and a 5-0 Forester run later on made the score 23-10. The Vikings won the next five points but kills by Stevens and freshman Marissa Gulley finished off the three-set victory for the home team.

Forester sophomore Mary Gegen led all players in the contest with a dozen kills and she added four blocks on the night. Stevens was next on the team with eight kills and she led the squad in blocks with five. Junior Izzi Visnjevac was the only member of either team to reach double figures in digs, tallying 18, and she served up six of Lake Forest's 11 aces on the night. Freshman Juli Barrientos recorded 29 assists and added nine digs.

The Foresters improved to 6-13 overall this season and 2-1 in Midwest Conference play. Lawrence fell to 5-10 overall and 0-2 in the league.
