Volleyball sophomore Mary Gegen was named Forester Athlete of the Week for her performance in three matches over the past week. This is the second time that Gegen has been named athlete of the week this season.
Gegen racked up 54 kills in a four-day span last week. She started the week by tallying what was then a season-high 18 in Wednesday night's five-set loss at Wheaton. She turned in a double-double two days later with 15 kills and 15 digs in a league-opening four-set triumph at Ripon.
Finally, in a four-set loss to Monmouth on Saturday, the outside hitter pounded out a career-high 23 kills to tie the third-highest four-set total in team history.
Gegen also served up an ace in each of the three contests.
Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the athletics department on Tuesdays.
