Foresters' Four-Match Win Streak Ends at Ripon

Less than 24 hours after defeating visiting Ripon College in three sets, the Lake Forest College volleyball team fell 28-26, 26-24, 25-17 at Ripon on Saturday.

The Foresters led for most of the opening set and had a pair of set point opportunities before the Red Hawks won four of five points to take it.

Both teams had extended runs in set two and Lake Forest led 23-21 and 24-23 before the home team rallied again.

Ripon won the first four points of the third set and led by between three and nine the rest of the way.

Four Foresters reached double figures in digs and sophomore libero Izzi Visnjevac led all players in that category with 23. Freshman Mary Gegen was next on the team with 11 and she also pounded out a match-high 14 kills for her first career double-double. Senior Olivia Smith also posted a double-double with 10 kills and as many digs and sophomore Kelsey Akins matched her in the dig column.

Senior setter Allyson Richard finished the evening with 28 assists.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's record to 4-2 while Ripon earned its first victory in three tries.

The Foresters will close out the year with a scrimmage at Rock Valley College next Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
