Foresters Celebrate Senior Day with Sweep of Lawrence

Freshman Izzi Visnjevac served up five of Lake Forest's season-high 13 aces Saturday as the Foresters defeated visiting Lawrence University 25-12, 25-18, 25-17.

Visnjevac also led all players in Saturday's contest with a dozen digs and she now ranks third in the Midwest Conference with 39 aces and fourth with 438 digs.

Junior Olivia Drevs led Lake Forest with seven kills, senior Olivia Rhodes with 12 assists, and junior Isabel Donnelly with six blocks.

Rhodes and fellow seniors Anna Denslow, Hannah Hornacek, Allison Trutna, and Emily Mosher were honored before their final career home match.

The Foresters quickly jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the opening set and later used a five-point run to extend the margin to 13. A kill by Drevs closed it out.

A 7-1 run early in set two put Lake Forest on top for good. The Vikings closed to within one at 16-15 and again at 19-18 before six straight points by the home team, the last an ace by junior Olivia Smith, finished off the set.

Eight of the first nine points in the third set went to the Foresters, who saw their lead shrink to three several times before closing out the contest with a 5-0 run. Match point came on an ace by Visnjevac.

The victory improved Lake Forest's overall record on the season to 11-13 and evened the team's league mark at 4-4. Lawrence fell to 6-20 overall and 2-7 in the conference.

The Foresters will close out the year at Ripon college next Friday night at 7:00.
