Lake Forest Downed by Benedictine in Four

Junior Hannah Nauert served up four aces but the Foresters were defeated 25-18, 14-25, 25-17, 25-23 by Benedictine University at home Friday night.

Nauert also had 16 assists on the night while senior Olivia Rhodes led the home team with 19. Lake Forest's other double figure performances were turned in by senior Hannah Hornacek and freshman Izzi Visnjevac, who tallied 12 kills and 10 digs, respectively.

The Foresters never led in the opening set, which the Eagles put out of reach with a four-point run that made the score 21-13.

Benedictine led set two 9-8 before a 10-2 run put Lake Forest on top by seven. The margin reached double figures and Hornacek finished off the set with an ace.

Lake Forest led the third set by two early on but trailed by the same amount at 14-12 before being outscored 11-5 the rest of the way.

The Foresters had a pair of four-point runs early on in set four and were ahead by four late at 23-19. Benedictine then rattled off six straight points to take the set and the match.

The loss dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 6-8 while the Eagles improved to 9-3.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play next Saturday against visiting Illinois College. The match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
