Lake Forest Takes Two of Three at Wheaton's Marilyn Scribner Invite

Freshman libero Izzi Visnjevac racked up 50 digs on the weekend as the Foresters fell in three sets to Dominican University on Friday before sweeping North Central College and Buena Vista University on Saturday.

Visnjevac finished with nine digs in the 25-20, 28-26, 25-9 loss to Dominican. Freshman Madison Stevens led the Foresters with eight kills and senior Olivia Rhodes with 10 assists to go with six kills of her own.

Lake Forest defeated North Central 25-18, 25-23, 25-17 in Saturday's first match. Freshman Haley Bryant had 11 kills while senior Hannah Hornacek and Rhodes added nine and eight, respectively. Visnjevac tallied 26 digs, the most by a Forester in a three-set match in seven years. Rhodes also reached double figures with 13 digs and was edged out 15-14 in assists by senior Hannah Nauert.

The Foresters swept their second opponent of the afternoon and third this season with a 25-22, 26-24, 25-16 triumph over Buena Vista. Hornacek led the team with a dozen kills and junior Isabel Donnelly was next with 10. Bryant and Rhodes chipped in with nine and eight, respectively. Visnjevac finished with 15 digs and three aces, sophomore Katelyn Knight had four blocks, and Rhodes' 17 assists were four more than Nauert's total.

Hornacek was Lake Forest's leader in kills on the weekend with 26 while Rhodes ranked first on the team with 41 assists and second with 22 kills and 20 digs. Knight had seven blocks and Visnjevac four aces.

Saturday's victories evened the Foresters' record on the season at 6-6. Dominican improved to 6-2 on Friday while North Central fell to 4-8 and Buena Vista to 2-8 on Saturday.

Lake Forest will host Elmhurst College on Wednesday and Benedictine University on Friday. Both matches will begin at 7:00 p.m.
